ITIDA Concludes 2nd Round Training of Egyptian Public Prosecutors on IPR, Digital Signature and Cybercrime

The Intellectual Property Office (IPRO), of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has concluded the second round of the specialized training on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), digital signature and cybercrime for Egyptian Public Prosecutors.

The training session aims to develop technical skills of related stakeholders, through ITIDA’s role to build capacities of local judges, prosecutors, criminal investigators, and Police officers on IPR-related topics.

The session was held at the headquarters of the Administrative Prosecution Authority (APA) and attended by Counsel Mohamed Ramy, Deputy Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority (APA) and Director of the Judicial Training Center, Mr. Ahmed Abdul Ghani, Acting Manager of the IPR Office, in addition to more than 50 prosecutors, a number of executive managers of ITIDA, lecturers and civil code professors.

During his speech at the training certificate delivery ceremony, Consuel Ezzat Abo Zayed, Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority, noted that it's crucial to increase the number of such specialized training courses, to be inclusive of all employees at the APA and not only the Public Prosecutors.

He added that great importance should be given especially to training sessions specialized in various ICT fields, due to its integration in different aspects of everyday life nowadays, and in line with the country's adoption of digital transformation, pointing out the need to make the most of these initiatives and their impact on the performance of employees.

For his part, Engineer Amr Mahfouz, ITIDA’s CEO, congratulated the public prosecutors on their completion of the training course, he pointed out the keenness of ITIDA to contribute to the development of the competencies and skills of the employees of various ministries and entities, by offering specialized training catering to their work needs and developing their technical capabilities, ensuring that Egypt is always adopting the latest technologies in various sectors.

Mahfouz added that the field of intellectual property has become a top priority for many governments due to the growing concept of protecting ideas and creations, especially those that turn into companies and businesses, whose market value is equal to the size of the entire economy of some countries.

Mahfouz added that ITIDA held a series of training courses and seminars throughout this year in cooperation with various stakeholders in the field of intellectual property, especially the judicial authorities and the Ministry of Interior to raise public awareness of intellectual property issues and their economic benefits.

The training program included a series of technical lectures on intellectual property law; copyrights and related issues; as well as the challenges of technical and Legal Guide; how to extract digital forensics in intellectual property lawsuits; legal protection of trademarks, and the impact of artificial intelligence techniques on it and technical standards for a standing legal title of a digital signature.
