ITIDA to Upskill Youth in North Sinai for ICT Labor Market in Collaboration with El Gora Community Development Association

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has signed a cooperation protocol with North Sinai’s El Gora Community Development Association, a non-profit organization. The agreement targets training and qualifying the young men and women of North Sinai Governorate to be ready for the ICT labor market and enable them to benefit from the training programs offered by the agency.

The cooperation comes in light of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology,(MCIT) strategy, that aims to create a broad base of skilled competencies to meet the job market demands, both locally and globally, in various ICT fields to as part of the ministry’s endeavors to build Digital Egypt, and enhance the country’s position on the global ICT map. Additionally, ITIDA aims, through this cooperation, to implement an inclusive strategy, wherein youth across various governorates in Egypt could benefit from its programs.

ITIDA’s CEO, Amr Mahfouz, noted: “The cooperation serves our strategic pillar of building the Egyptian citizen, where ITIDA is currently focusing on expanding the base of youth benefitting from its tech and language training programs, to qualify them to the global and local ICT market, thus creating a wide base of competitive Egyptian calibers in diverse ICT specializations.”.

Mahfouz added that the cooperation is designed to increase the competitiveness of Egypt’s governorates, through continuously training students and fresh grads and equipping them with digital and in-demand skills, to enrich our highly-skilled talent pool, that is capable of attracting multinational companies to invest in these governorates and provide many job opportunities for young people.

For his part, Dr. Bakr Soilem CEO of El Gora Community Development Association noted that the MOU is part of Egypt’s vision 2030, as it highlights the efforts that the government attaches to the development of North Sinai, through equipping its youth with the latest tech skills to conquer future job market, with its untraditional freelance opportunities, and supporting the upscaling of North Sinai startups.

ITIDA’s Vice President Amani Rabie, and Khalid Zayed, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al-Jura Association, signed the agreement.

The cooperation program seeks university students, new graduates, and job seekers in all fields of the ICT sector, to raise the competencies and capacities of 450 young men and women annually, where women represent at least 25% of the targeted numbers.

The cooperation offers three training programs: The English Language and Technical Training program, within the framework of Egypt FWD initiative, which aims to train students on one chosen track offered through the initiative, namely; Digital Marketing, Web Development, or Data Analysis, in addition to the English language training.

The second program is the Students’ Summer Training program for Computer Science and Engineering graduates of Sinai University, and Telecommunication engineering students of the Higher Institute of Commercial Sciences and Computer in Arish. ITIDA also provides training to residents of the North Sinai governorate, in general, on basic computer skills and languages.

ITIDA, through its cooperation with El Gora Community Development Association, offers fund up to 60% of the ICT companies employees’ salaries, from the residents of North Sinai governorate, upon completion of one of the programs offered through Egypt FWD initiative.
