The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Arish University. The aim is to hone the ICT skills of university students and fresh graduates in North Sinai and prepare them for the job market.

The agreement has been signed by ITIDA CEO Amr Mahfouz and President of Arish University Hassan Al-Demerdash.

During the signing ceremony, the ICT Minister underlined that the cooperation is part of the government’s efforts to develop North Sinai, foster human development, and provide decent jobs for its people. He added that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is keen on achieving a countrywide reach to the training programs and initiatives implemented by the Ministry and its affiliates.

MCIT works hand in hand with the academia to create a talent pool and equip young Egyptians with the most in-demand ICT skills in local and global job markets, helping keep up with the technological advancements, commented Talaat.

Under the two-year agreement, ITIDA and Arish University will cooperate in providing training in computer, cybersecurity, and language skills to 600 people in North Sinai every year. In addition, technical training will be delivered through “Egypt Future Work is Digital (Egypt FWD)” initiative, covering digital marketing, web development, and data analysis tracks.

The role of ITIDA in the agreement is to carry out the Summer Training program, targeting first, second, and third-year students at the Faculty of Computer and Informatics and students majoring in related fields. The program helps build youth capacity in different ICT fields and in-demand skills.
