Electronics Design & Development Investment in Egypt Support Program is an initiative launched by ITIDA. It aims at promoting and supporting the electronics industry in Egypt through EME. The Program has five objectives: Talent Development, Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Local Companies Development, FDI Attraction & Support, and Business Ecosystem Development. The Program provides government support for Electronics Design & Development by offering several incentives to attract investors to set up their electronics design and development ventures in Egypt. These incentives include a Corporate Tax reduction by 30% to 50%, with up to 80% of total paid capital exempted from taxes. Machines, tools, and equipment used in Tech Parks are exempted from customs and taxes. Under the program, eligible participants can receive a subsidy of up to 50% on the expenses incurred for establishing Design Offices and Manufacturing facilities in Tech Parks. The Program also offers 5% to 10% export overhead rebate, based on local value, and 50% subsidy on freight costs to Africa. Governmental purchases of local products can have 15% cost advantage, further incentivizing the electronics industry in Egypt. The Program also supports HR development of enterprise staff by offering funds over three years for professional and vocational training programs. Grants for R&D projects are also available to promote innovation and encourage entrepreneurship in the electronics industry.
