Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Support Program

The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Support Program is a strategic initiative by ITIDA-EME “Egypt Makes Electronics” designed to catalyze the local electronics design sector. The program lowers the barrier to innovation by subsidizing the licensing costs of essential EDA/CAD tools, simulation software, and verification tools.

Program Objectives

High licensing costs for electronic design software constitute a major portion of R&D budgets in semiconductor and embedded systems engineering. This financial burden often hinders the growth of Egyptian startups and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).

To address this challenge, the program aims to:

Accelerate R&D: Assist local firms in developing high-yield products such as IC chips, Systems-on-Chip (SoCs), and Intellectual Property (IP) blocks Or Deeptech systems and products.

Boost Global Competitiveness: Enhance the market positioning of Egyptian engineering service providers specializing in embedded systems and electronics design.

Drive Economic Growth: Enable local companies to scale up operations, increase revenues, and expand their technical workforce.

Target Beneficiaries

Eligible companies must operate within one of the following domains:

Semiconductor Design: & IC Chips, IPs, and SoCs.

Electronics & Embedded Systems Design: & Utilizing PCB CAD, simulation, or verification tools.

Program Benefits

Cost SubsidyCo-funding of up to 60% of annual EDA/CAD, verification, or simulation tool licensing costs over 2 years.

Funding Cap: The maximum annual support is capped at $7,000 USD multiplied by 80% of the company's full-time employees.

Disbursement Schedule: Funds are disbursed quarterly (every 3 months) upon submission of official vendor contracts, invoices, and valid proof of payment.

Eligibility & Conditions

To qualify for the EDA Support Program, companies must meet the following criteria:

Company Profile: Registered with ITIDA as an electronics design company specializing in semiconductor or electronic systems design.

Company Size: Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a maximum workforce of 200 employees.

Operational History: Established for at least 1 year prior to the application date.

Minimum Workforce: A minimum of three (3) full-time technical engineers dedicated to R&D.

Measurable Growth Indicators: Beneficiaries should demonstrate yearly business development measured by one of the following indicators:

o Growth in full time headcounts.

o Increased annual Corporate revenues.

o Growth in export volume.

Compliance & Monitoring

EME Accelerator provides a comprehensive suite of resources designed to bridge the gap between lab-tested prototypes and market-ready ventures.

License requests and allocations are strictly governed by program guidelines and framework agreement with ITIDA.

ITIDA reserves the right to cancel remaining disbursements or suspend a company from the program if target growth outcomes are not met.

The Evaluation Committee may conduct on-site visits or invite company executives to present technical and commercial progress.

Application Procedures

The program follows a transparent four-stage lifecycle:

1Announcement: Public rollout of the application window.
2 Program Registration: Companies submit their registration form, including a business study
3 Review & Evaluation: ITIDA’s technical committee reviews submissions against eligibility criteria.
4 Agreement: Finalizing framework agreements with eligible beneficiaries.
5 Reimbursement: Funds are disbursed upon submission of executed business cases with official vendor contracts, invoices, and valid proof of payment.[download EDA Support Program Business Case Template].
