The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has named the winning teams of the DevOps Hackathon 2026, held alongside the ninth edition of DevOpsDays Cairo 2026, organized by ITIDA's Software Engineering Competence Centre (SECC).
The competition brought together international experts, industry professionals, university students and technology practitioners working across DevOps, AI and software engineering.
Held under the theme "Automate, Accelerate, and Innovate with DevOps & AI," the competition attracted 142 teams, with 20 teams advancing to the final stage — 10 university student teams and 10 teams of graduates and professionals. Winners shared a total prize pool of EGP 590,000.
Participating teams competed to develop end-to-end solutions combining DevOps practices and AI to automate development and operations, accelerate software delivery, address real-world challenges and drive innovation.
A diverse field of solutions
The finalist projects demonstrated a wide range of applications, from automating and accelerating software development and deployment to using AI agents to plan, review and test code, as well as solutions designed to detect system issues, identify their root causes and accelerate incident response.
Other projects extended beyond core technical applications, including monitoring AI-tool costs, evaluating new ideas and projects, and translating technical alerts into accessible information to help business owners understand the impact of system issues on their services.
Judging
Projects were evaluated by a 12-member judging panel, — six Egyptian and six international judges — against criteria including innovation and creativity, relevance to the competition theme, practical applicability and potential impact, technical implementation, usability and user experience, and the quality and project presentations and live demonstrations.
Winners — Student Category
First Place: Team a — EGP 90,000. Developed an intelligent assistant that helps engineers identify the most effective steps for diagnosing system issues and conducting safe tests to determine the root causes.
Second Place: Team Ne3Na3 (student team named "peppermint") — EGP 70,000. Developed an AI-powered tool that keeps system code, documentation and diagrams aligned with system changes, reducing errors caused by outdated information.
Third Place: Team Fo2 El-Sa7ab (student team named "above the clouds") — EGP 50,000. Developed a secure testing environment for evaluating AI tools before deploying into production, helping identify risks and minimise potential errors.
Graduates and Professionals Category
First Place: Team MarsadOps — EGP 160,000. Developed a system providing real-time monitoring of AI-tool costs and usage efficiency within companies.
Second Place: Team DevOps Titans — EGP 120,000. Developed a tool that automates project setup and deployment while scanning for security issues, such as exposed passwords, before release.
Third Place: Team SYNAI — EGP 100,000. Developed a wearable device and an AI-powered system that sends early alerts when changes are detected that could indicate a health or safety issue affecting a child, enabling earlier intervention.
At the close of the event, Eng. Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, and Dr. Haitham Hamza, Chairman of SECC, honored the winning teams and presented their awards, while thanking the judging panel for its work in evaluating projects and selecting finalists and winners.
The competition highlighted the growing ability of Egyptian developers to combine DevOps practices and AI to build practical solutions to real-world challenges across software development, operations and business processes.
