Digital transformation is a new reality for organizations of all sizes, but small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have a particularly difficult task ahead. As these businesses compete in the digital age, they must find ways to leverage information technology (IT) to improve their processes and operations. To do so, SMEs must be agile and adaptive to remain competitive in their respective markets.

To keep up with the fast pace of evolution within their industries, organizations are constantly adapting in response to Digital Transformation (DX) global trends.

In doing so, organizations should:

1reduce inefficient and unnecessary expenditures.
2identify opportunities to invest in.
3implement best practices.
4follow latest technology trends.
5ensure that cost/benefit analysis of change projects includes the entire picture.

The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) launched Digital Transformation for IT companies in Egypt. DX4IT initiative defines a standard capability-based reference architecture for IT companies in Egypt. The initiative offers a common vocabulary, reusable designs and industry best practices as Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), ISACA’s COBIT framework, Agile practices, DevOps software methodology, Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF).

DX4IT covers Enterprise Architecture’s four domains: Business, Data, Applications and Technology. A fifth dimension is added to measure Outcome and Performance from the capability. The newly-added dimension ensures the alignment between the capability outcomes with the organization’s strategic objectives and justifies the capability building effort\cost. DX4IT is targeting the capabilities needed for IT companies to ensure business agility and implement digital transformation.
