Egypt PM Witnesses the Inking of Cooperation Protocol on Supporting IT Sector Companies

​Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt's Prime Minister, witnessed today at the Council of Ministers' headquarters, in the New Administrative Capital, signing a cooperation protocol between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), on the support of IT sector companies. This was in the presence of Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

The protocol was signed by Eng. Ahmed Hassan El-zaher, CEO of ITIDA, and Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of GAFI.

The protocol aims to coordinate and cooperate between the two parties to take the necessary actions towards supporting investment in ICT companies, and to make further efforts to improve the investment environment in this vital sector.

On the sidelines of the signing, the ICT Minister of stressed the continuation of efforts to build more local, regional and international partnerships in the field of information and communication technology, which contributes to increasing the added value of the Egyptian economy, positioning Egypt as an international regional center and gateway to technology based on creativity and entrepreneurship, and advancing its position in the global map of entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

The CEO of ITIDA said that the Agency aims to develop the information technology industry, which has become a key pillar in the development and progress of societies, and it is its responsibility, in accordance with its role, to encourage and develop the information and communications technology industry, and to contribute to the development of entities working in this field, in order to encourage and increase the volume of various products, services and applications in this regard.

In turn, the CEO of GAFI pointed to the efforts exerted by the Authority to regulate and facilitate investment in Egypt, to become the best partner for financial and business institutions in the world, through the application of incentive investment strategies in accordance with international best practices, in order to promote Egypt as a promising investment destination.
