Call for Applications

ITIDA, in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through its flagship startup support program Project NINJA (Next Innovation with Japan), is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for Egyptian startups to join the official Egypt Delegation to SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, one of Asia's leading global innovation platforms.

This mission aims to showcase Egypt's most innovative technology startups, unlock collaboration opportunities with Japanese corporates, and support global expansion through curated business matching and investment-focused engagements.

    The travel schedule will be determined by the program organizers. The schedule may be shortened, and the duration of stay will vary depending on the participation format and selected activities.

How It Works

Program Structure

All selected startups will participate in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 as part of Egypt’s official delegation.

 

Standard Schedule

All startups will follow the schedule aligned with the main SusHi Tech Tokyo event.

 

Extended Stay

A select group of startups may be invited for additional business meetings and investor engagements based on their collaboration potential and interest from Japanese corporates and investors.

Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all the following requirements to qualify

 

Legally Registered Egyptian Startup

Registered in Egypt, preferably Series A and above with established product-market fit

 

Strong Traction & Validation

Revenue, paying customers, active pilots, or strong user growth

 

Relevance to Japanese Market

Operating in sectors aligned with Japanese corporate interest

 

English Communication

Founders or CXO-level leaders able to communicate effectively in English

Target Sectors Aligned with Japanese Corporate Interest

Support & Obligations

Funding & Participation Conditions

A

Travel Coverage for One Representative per Startup

For the selected startups (maximum ten (10)), JICA will cover the following expenses for one (1) representative per startup, in accordance with its official regulations:

  • Round-trip international airfare economy class (between Cairo and Tokyo)
  • Accommodation costs for the duration of the official program, covered in accordance with JICA's official standards (hotel arrangements will follow JICA regulations)
  • Daily allowance (per diem) at JICA's standard rates

Startups are encouraged, though not required, to send an additional representative at their own expense.

Further details regarding travel procedures, documentation requirements, and logistical arrangements will be provided to selected startups upon confirmation of their participation.

Participation in Official Meetings

Selected startups acknowledge and agree that representatives from ITIDA and/or JICA may attend meetings with Japanese corporates, investors, ecosystem partners, and relevant stakeholders as part of the official mission program.

Mandatory Reporting Obligations

To ensure transparency, accountability, and effective follow-up on mission outcomes, selected startups are required to:

  • Submit a brief meeting summary for each meeting conducted during the mission, using templates provided by ITIDA/JICA.
  • Submit a consolidated post-event report within one (1) week of returning to Egypt, including:
    • List of meetings conducted
    • Key discussion points
    • Identified collaboration, PoC, or investment leads
    • Planned next steps
  • Submit quarterly progress reports for twelve (12) months following the mission, detailing:
    • Status of ongoing discussions
    • Updates on PoCs, pilots, or agreements
    • Investment conversations or due diligence
    • Any achievements, challenges, or changes in direction

Failure to comply with reporting requirements may affect eligibility for future ITIDA or JICA programs. Templates will be provided by ITIDA/JICA.

Commitment & No-Show Policy

Selected startups must sign an official Commitment Form, confirming their acceptance into the delegation and their participation in all mission activities assigned to them under their respective participation format. Once the form is signed, the startup will be considered fully committed to the mission.

Withdrawal or failure to attend—except in cases of documented force majeure—will require the startup to reimburse ITIDA/JICA for all expenses incurred on its behalf, including but not limited to:

  • Airfare
  • Accommodation
  • Event participation or exhibition fees
  • Local transportation or other prepaid services

Unjustified withdrawal may also result in:

  • Disqualification from future ITIDA or JICA programs
  • Temporary exclusion from participation in official delegations
