Sherif El Kassas​
ITIDA Board Member

Dr. Sherif El Kassas is a faculty member at the computer science and engineering program - AUC and associate director of the University Academic Computing Services (UACT). El-Kassas’ research interests are piqued at security management, application of formal methods in software engineering, computer security, and open source technologies.

El-Kassas is also a consultant to a set of organizations; a board of trustees member at the Information Technology Institute; a board member of the Egyptian Open Source Business Consortium (d.b.a. EOSBC); and a member of different professional computing societies.

He leads the security-consulting firm SecureMisr. He has been involved with the scope of information security for over 20 years. El Kassas provided security consultation and assessment services to pioneering banks, financial companies, governmental entities, telecom businesses in Egypt and the Arab region.

He took part in shaping the government policy, legal and regulatory environment for IT and security in Egypt with clear achievements in computer forensics and data recovery. Dr. El Kassas is a member of the Advisory Board of the First Information Security, also known as First Info Sec. ​

He spoke at major information security events in the Middle East including the "Information Security in a Connected World," held in Dubai in March 2009, and "Information Security Challenges and Solutions," held in Sultanate of Oman in 2018.

He received his bachelor of science in engineering from Cairo University in 1993, master’s degree - MEE Engineering from NUFFIC, in The Hague, The Netherlands and his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Eindhoven University in the Netherlands in 1993.​
