ITIDA’s Electronic Transactions Security Sector has attained the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for information
security.
ITIDA stated that the sector received the certification to its Information Security Management Systems standard in
record time and without any non-conformities, recording an exceptional achievement, especially under the current
circumstances and challenges of COVID-19.
The achievement reflects ITIDA's keenness on pursuing international practices and standards while delivering its
services, especially those pertaining to the electronic transaction security activities. As one of its primary
roles, ITIDA regulates the e-signature in Egypt along with operating the Egyptian Root Certificate Authority (Root
CA) according to the highest security standards.
Hala El-Gohary; ITIDA CEO said that the agency has an ambitious plan to achieve a breakthrough in the field of
electronic transactions and contribute effectively in realizing Digital Egypt strategy that supports the journey of
Egypt’s digital transformation.
ITIDA, in addition, plays a key role in developing the human capital and ensure the availability of the skilled
human resources in this field, besides its efforts in spreading technology and e-signature services. This comes in
line with the latest amendments applied in the E-Signature Law executive regulations, which were put into action by
virtue of the decree issued recently by the ICT Minister Amr Talaat.
The ISO/IEC 27001 is a well-known international standard for information security. It provides the necessary
approach for establishing an integrated information security system and helps achieve the highest standards of
security and confidentiality in a way that helps maintain data protection at all levels and in different ways of
saving or circulating it, and according to the needs of various governmental or private organizations.
